If you missed the most recent Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles baseball game, you can walk by John Reyes’ desk in the Online campus to get the scoop. The self-described superstitious sports nut only opens his cabinet of bobble heads for exhibition when the Angels have won the game. Reyes, an academic advisor, decorates his desk with sports memorabilia to connect with coworkers and says it’s a great conversation starter.
Reyes, who has worked at Brandman for seven and half years, said his bobble head collection started with a gift from a past co-worker and has grown throughout the years. His cabinet now also houses Los Angeles Rams decorations. Reyes is proud to display his newly relocated NFL team and hopes to add more to his desk but is mindful to not go overboard. “I’ve had six desks in my time at Brandman. That means I’ve boxed up and unpacked my desk six times. It’s a lot of work!” said Reyes.
Reyes also decorates his desk with photos of his wife and children to stay focused on his real passion, family. Which is why he says also appreciates the family-like environment of the Online campus. He really enjoys that his current cubical is surrounded by fellow academic advisors and One Stop specialists from his campus. “It’s awesome to have a collaborative work space. We all have one goal, to help our students,” said Reyes.
