Nicole Schneider, Ed.D., and Leticia Rojas, Ed.D., both assistant professors in the Brandman University School of Education, continued the university’s partnership with the Woodlake Unified School District by providing an intensive summer professional development focusing on English language development strategies while teaching K-6 mathematics.
More than 40 teachers and administrators attended the event at the university’s Visalia campus. Rojas quoted the participants as saying:
- “I feel rejuvenated. Thank you for all of the new strategies along with reminders of the old!
- “It was refreshing and encouraging to reach my EL students better.”
- “I love attending workshops that provide strategies that I can implement in the classroom right away.”
The all-day event was part of the two-year grant initiative between the university and the school district. It’s designed to assist K-6 teachers in building confidence in their math teaching strategies.
