Vinny Johl to provide advice in the field of college readiness at Tempe, AZ event March 21-23
Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.
Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting where students, youth organizations, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. Scheduled guest speakers at this year’s summit include; Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States, former U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton, Michael Crow, president of Arizona State University, John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona, Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, and Chelsea Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation.
“This is a wonderful honor,” said Vinny Johl, manager of corporate and community relations at Brandman University’s Yuba City campus. “I had such a blessed year serving in 2013 and was so grateful for another opportunity to serve as a mentor. Last year I was able to meet several world leaders, future world leaders, and Bill and Chelsea Clinton.”
Last year, Johl was a mentor in the field of Agriculture. This year she’ll mentor in college readiness.
Johl holds bachelor’s degrees in marketing and management and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of the Pacific. Vinny first became involved with CGI U as a graduate student when she developed a proposal for a campus garden that would assist in creating living learning laboratories where students and community members could learn more about agriculture. Vinny will provide advice for gaining support for commitments, funding and implementing commitments, as well as effectively utilizing social media.
